Good to be home...

9-17-2009

I was in California for what felt like a week so I was unable to work out for awhile. I did jump right back into my work out.

I did a basic 5 minute start / warm up. I worked on 6 RL 6 for about 15 minutes and it came back quick. I want to keep pushing WH SH stuff so I started with 5 minutes of 6 RL 6 SHO but felt like it was pulling me away from my pushing the sight picture. I really want to make sure this is beat in so I need to hit the reps on this. I DO NOT want to have to think of it in matches.

Overall a very good practice and I am glad I got right back into it

Where is the damn target?

9-11-2009

I started with a solid 5 minute warm up with some surrender draws mixed in. I really pushed the qty of reps. Draw find the target/dot and holster, repeat. I really started to feel it. I did the same fasted pace reps with 6 RL 6 for about 15 minutes really focusing on the target. I am starting to believe that I was seeing the dot not the targets. This would make it no better than shooting production. I need to make it the focus for the forseeable future. Overall a pretty good work out.

Putting in some time....

9-10-2009

A short warm up and right at the 6 RL 6. I didn't put in a "hard " workout. Just kind of went through the motions. But I did get it done none the less.

PM live fire!

9-9-2009 pm

I shot at HRPC Wednesday night practice and felt very off. It was only 3 versions of 6 RL 6. Freestyle RL SH, freestyle RL- WH and SH-WH. Not alot of rounds but feeling the recoil just the same. It is getting dark fast and unfortunately there is no indoor range anymore so I may reach a spot where I lose practice ( will probably do Sunday mornings).

See the target...

9-8-2009 7 am

45 min on and off work out.

I started off with a good warm up pushing again as the current theme dictates. It felt good. I utilized some surrender draws as well.

Strictly did 6 RL 6 with HAS draws. I pushed the time and it felt decent. I didn't push as hard as I could. I did the last 5 minutes with the timer focusing on drawing with the beep not after. I also pushed the last 5 minutes on looking at the target not the dot. It did take some paying attention to. Or I just am paying attention to it thus making it harder to do. I feel it may be something I was not doing as I do notice when I pay attention to it I feel like I transition faster.

I hope I just found something..

Don't look at the DOT!

9-7-2009 am

I started with 5 minutes of warmup with "Hard" draws. Really pushing them along..
I worked 6 RL 6 with a "push". I was pushing the speed a little again and also focused on the target not my dot. I think I have been looking at the dot. I am not sure how much but I need to make sure I don't do it at all. I got in alot of reps and my arm was feeling the result. (burning)

Near the end of the workout I really pushed it hard and also started focusing on my grip. I really need to push the 70-30 and need my left thumb to stay put on its spot. (drive it in there.)
Overall very productive work out.

Feel the recoil...

9-6-2009 9 am

Got to shoot 100 rounds live fire. I shot my g35 limited gun with my IDPA set up. It felt awkward and I didn't feel good about the results. I shot pretty accurately but my gear useage was disappointing. Now I don't know if I can shoot accurately under pressure we will see. I definately need to work the gear but I can do that at home in practice.

Push a little,Push some more...

I started today with the timer in warm up?? Stopped that real quick and just warmed up with out it. I really do not know why I used it right off. I guess because it was in my mind.

Broke out the timer with 6 RL 6. I quickly started pushing this drill a little. It has been awhile since I have pushed myself forcing the A shots. A little while ago I had decided to just shoot A's and not push the time at all. Well now I have been doing it for awhile so I decided to push forward. I am not going to look at par times just yet. Although I am curious to see if any areas have improved.

I pushed the speed even further and it still went pretty well actually. I did move back to 15 ft mark which is simulated 45 feet and this didn't slow me down any to note.

Total workout about 30 minutes and very very productive.

Reps, Reps, Reps....

9-3

I started with atleast 10- min of draws. Surrender and Has.

about 15 minutes of 6 RL 6 with surrender draws.

decent workout because I stopped very little and kept plugging away at the reps.

Don't stop now!

9-2-2009 7:45 am

no real warm up today. I kind of jumped into 6 RL 6. I turned it into El Prez. I haven't done alot of turn draws recently and wanted to do some reps. It felt good. I feel like I have decent form and speed. I am comfortable enough that in matches I do not think about it.
I did more 6 RL 6 with surrender draws.
I finished up with a decent string of Burkett reloads. as with my notes it was kind of a messy work out.

PRACTICE!

I was going to take a break for a short while after a busy schedule recently. Then my body woke me up and told me to work out so I did.

all I worked on today was my usual few minute mixed warm up.

I did about 5 minutes of 6 RL 6 with SH and about 15 minutes of 6RL 6 with WH.
I started to feel pretty smooth in the end of the WH and I did quickly with strong hand so that is why I pushed more WH.
This killed me in the match. I needed to slow down and get my hits. I didn't. There always seems to be some in the matches so I need it to be a stage where I GAIN points!

anyway off to work....

August HRPC Match

We had our local club match this week and I shot decent. Well lets say I came in 6th overall and 4th in open. (28 shooters, 10 I think open) Now I am pleased with the results only due to the fact I didn't feel a groove all day. Maybe one stage. I felt slow and off. I had one stage that I did call an A that ended up being a no shoot. This particular shot I realized after that it was so close I had forgotten to compensate the 2 inches for the c more mount. DOH! mental error.

We had a large group from Harvard Mass come up so there was alot of open shooters. This was a great day to gauge where I am. SLOW! Now I am not trying to push time so it is what it is. I hope as I shoot cleaner more consistently I can speed it up.

All in all though I realized I am improving. On an off day I can still rack up the points and do ok. One thing I learned from a web site was big stages have more points so really avaoid mistakes on those in particular. More overall points will be the result. I did decent on the big stages in the match.
