Hate do it....

....But I have to catch up...

5-30-2009
Same routine but strange. It has been months with only live fire on weds and matches to improve.
Sa2 par .9 did 1.1 down to .8 and was feeling sloppy
Sa3 par .9 1.1 down to .9
Sa7 par .7 start at .9 down to.6 5 reps each
Sa10 par 5.9 down to 5.7 need work
Sa11 par 5.8 down to 5.6
Sa12 par 6.0 down to 5.7 sloppy
Sa15 par 3.0 down to 2.8 sloppy
Sa17 par 1.0

Sloppy messy need to not feel rushed and get back into this….

Sa7 par .7 .8 down to .6 started feeling it in the end. Need to work on hearing timer
Sa8 par 5.5 did 5.5 down to 5.3 last set (5) was hard
Sa10 par 5.5 did 5.5 and 5.4 arms killing
Sa11 par 5.8 did about 15 reps at 5.8
Sa12 par 6.0 did 15 reps same time..
Box drill headshots first 60 arms burning like crazy..second set moved a little faster on the movement

Sa7 par .7 started at .8 , .7 was good.. .6 I really pushed and was getting them. Trying to take off mon first note of timer.. not after beep!
Sa8 par 5.5 start at 5.5…down to 5.3 non stop .. really got the burn going…
Sa10 par 5.5 …started 5.5 trying to shoot early was f in it up.. stuck to reg down to 5.3 pretty good
Sa11 par 5.8 5.8 down to 5.6 … im sweating my a$$ off.
Sa12 par 6.0 here we go…6.0 down to 5.8 all good burn burn burn
Box drill 60 sec clockwise then same counter.. head shots… second batch slower better shots/bob..

Match placed 10th of 24 peops last in 4 open shooters
Had a mike or more on all but one of 7 stages.. this kills my points bad.
Really need to rededicate or give it up and shoot production.

Practice
As I asked jay was hard on me.
I was surprised though as he reverted back to my stance.. square one…
I knew all the correct things but he was right I was not doing it.

Warm up
10min or so. Reorganized gear a little..
Sa7 par .7 10 reps each .7-.5
Sa8 par 5.5 down to 5.3 and pushed it hard on all
Sa10 par 5.5 did some beginning and ending no par time. (5.5-5.3)
Sa11 par 5.8 just started doing partial trigger resets..not full 5.8 down to 5.6 trigger messing me all up
sa12 5.8 down to 5.6
Enter box shooting drill 25 rep or so
60 sec box drill, 1st string worked hard on trigger reset and smooth legs
2nd string slower more deliberate a’s still worked on trigger reset.
Added in sa15 to work on trigger…did about 15 reps

Live fire 300 rounds
Goal: transitions/draws
Jay had me working on basics again so I figured this would be basic. I had stopped working as much on draws and Jay mentioned to Ledge about .2 is a huge thing. So live fire… 1.5 seems to be par. Not good for an open shooter (at least 1.0 max) I can hit 1.3 or so sometimes but have to push it and miss. I did this for about 200 rounds. Then worked on transitions two targets two shots reload two shots. I really really focused on trigger reset. This needs to be the main focus in live fire because this cannot be felt in dryfire. All in all very good session but need a lot more live fire…

I did 5 min warm up. Reloads, surrender and hands at sides draws.
Sa 7 Par is .7. I started at .7 on timer and worked down to .5 performing 10 reps each. I pushed .5 very hard and it felt very good.
Sa 8 Par is 5.5. I started at 5.5 and worked down to 5.2 doing 5 reps each. Even 5.2 was good. Really focused on transitions and trigger simulated reset only.
Sa 10 “El Prez” my par is 5.5. I did some warm ups and started at 5.5. I felt sloppy down to 5.3 which I had to really focus on.
Sa 11 “Strong Hand” my par is 5.8. I started at 5.8 and worked down to 5.5 performing 5 reps each. Last string was tough and got the arms burning.
Sa 12 “Weak Hand” par is 6.0. I started at 6.0 and worked down to 5.7 doing 5 reps a string. It was very messy. I am starting to feel arm fatigue.
60 sec box drill. First rep I did with the focus on trigger reset and 70-30 grip. Second rep I did the opposite direction around box with the same focus.
Last drill I finished with is shooting entering the box. I did 50 reps. This felt good. I paid attention to shooting off foot feel ( make any sense?).

Target array- I use three mini-uspsa targets setup evenly spaced at 15ft. I added in a no shoot to the middle target covering the left side up to the a box.


I start with a 5-10 minute warm up. I always try to focus on mechanics. I perform surrender draws, standard draws, reloads, and up-range draws. I don’t use the timer or pay attention to time. I really focus on good form, seeing the dot, and feel some blood flow to arms.

Sa 8 par is 5.5. I worked from 5.5 down to 5.3 and I was out of focus for awhile but came out of it near the end. Then it felt good!
Sa 10 par 5.5. I worked from 5.5 down to 5.3. I had very poor focus.
Sa11 par is 5.8. I worked from 5.8 down to 5.6 and maintained good focus throughout.
Sa 12 par is 6.0 I worked from 6.0 down to 5.8 and it was difficult but focus remained.
Box drill first string was ok arms got a little burn going. Second string had some trigger issue’s need to not let it break.
Step into box drill. Did 50 reps and near the end it was feeling good. Arms are burning and I felt good ending strong.

Sa8,sa11,sa12,sa15 all with no timer but no break .

No timer which meant more reps but less structure.
Felt ok for 730 am so far sticking with new routine.

Augusta classifier match
Shot two classes 6 stages each.
Extremely poor last overall in limited and very poor for open..
Dot I could barely see..
Make the fuck sure my gear is all set or DON”T GO!
I have no fuckin idea where zero is on either fucking gun.
Get some fucking sleep! 5 hours is too little…
Bring a fucking snack and drinks!

Get the fucking point through my head!
I am better now..

Work without pars fro awhile but use timer for beep
Really need to start focusing on shooting A’s fuck the time!
I should be able to go slower shooting A’s and get my feet back on the ground!


Warm up 15 min but lazy
Sa 7 timer no par .. 10 reps.. 3 strings
Sa8 no par did this on and off for and hour. One point I did 20 min straight.
Really bringing myself back to basics.. no pars all week… Hampden match this weekend… 11:30 close session.

5 min warm up… Rl’s, up range, surrender,

40 min slow pace work out. I worked on various draws, surrender, up range, at sides. Started to feel good. Can I pull off 2 a days….? (nope)

Eye has an infection so I went to bed early last night ;(

5 minute warm up . elpres surrender just draws.
sa 8 .. surrender , head shots.

Mixed it up with hands at side..25 min total.. decent work out…

Straight up draws good sight picture and hand work
(15 min) no buzzer.
20 reps with timer.
20 min of 6 RL 6 with timer and strong focus on the a ‘s and draws.. (get hands together quick
7-45 am close session.


Work outs have become very basic but I am rededicating my energy on learning it again from the beginning.
